Privacy Policy
Last updated June 30, 2026
Gyroid is built to be private. The short version: your prints, spools, costs, and settings live on your device and sync only through your own iCloud. We do not run a server that stores your data, and our App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
What we store, and where
Everything you enter (printers, spools, prints, maintenance, profiles, and photos) is stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database, and (if you're signed into iCloud) mirrored to your private iCloud database via CloudKit so it syncs across your Apple devices. That data is governed by Apple's privacy policy (external); we have no access to it.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription state (whether you have an active subscription). RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and your subscription status, not your prints, photos, or any content. See RevenueCat's privacy policy (external).
Camera, photos, and NFC
With your permission, Gyroid uses the camera to scan spool barcodes and QR codes, and reads NFC spool tags. This happens on your device. Photos you attach to prints are chosen from your photo library using Apple's standard picker, so we never get access to your library, and are stored with your data, on your device and your iCloud, never sent to us.
Notifications
Maintenance reminders are local notifications generated on your device. They are not sent through a server.
Analytics and tracking
Gyroid contains no advertising and no third-party tracking or analytics SDKs. Any diagnostics stay on your device (Apple's MetricKit); the only product figures we ever see are anonymous, aggregate numbers from Apple, such as total downloads and crash counts, that never identify you. We do not sell or share data: there is no data of yours for us to sell.
This website
gyroid.app uses no cookies, no analytics, and no trackers, and has no sign-up or contact forms. The cost and filament calculators run entirely in your browser; the numbers you enter are never sent to us. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability, as is typical for any website.
Children
Gyroid is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13.
Your control
You can edit or delete any item in the app at any time. To erase everything at once, use Settings → Erase all data, which removes your prints, spools, printers, and photos from your device and your iCloud. You can also remove all on-device data by deleting the app; iCloud data is managed in your Apple ID settings.
Your privacy rights
Privacy laws in the places Gyroid is available give you rights over personal information a business holds about you, such as the right to access, correct, or delete it and to complain to a regulator. These include U.S. state laws (California's CCPA/CPRA and others), Canada's PIPEDA and Québec's Law 25, Australia's Privacy Act 1988, New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020, Singapore's PDPA, Mexico's LFPDPPP, Japan's APPI, Brazil's LGPD, and India's DPDP Act. We make all of them simple to honour: we collect no personal information about you, and we do not sell or share any, so there is nothing for us to access, disclose, correct, delete, sell, or share. The content you create stays on your device and your private iCloud until you delete it, so we hold no personal data and have no retention period. You will not be treated differently for exercising any privacy right, and you can reach us any time with a question or complaint.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update it here and revise the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app.
Languages
We provide this policy in English and other languages for your convenience. The English version is the reference version, except where local law requires otherwise (for example, for Québec residents the French version is provided as required by law).
Contact
Questions, requests, or complaints? Email [email protected]. This is also our designated privacy contact and the individual accountable for privacy under laws such as Canada's PIPEDA, Singapore's PDPA, and Mexico's LFPDPPP.
